Recognising Adult Top Awards – April 2024

Today (Sunday 7th April 2024) the county recognised our Adults who received the top adult awards this year, presented by Lady Emma Barnard, Lord Lieutenant for West Sussex.
The Silver Acorn, awarded for specially distinguished service for a period of not less than twenty years, was presented to David Allen (posthumously), Roger Day, Susan Smith, Carol Stevenson, Glyn Pullen and Paul Arkle.
Bar to the Sliver Acorn, awarded for at least a further 5 years of similarly distinguished service was presented to David Matthews.
The Silver Wolf is the highest award made by The Scout Association “for services of the most exceptional character.” It is an unrestricted gift of the Chief Scout. This was presented to Jennifer Ririe and Brian Eastman
HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
