Horshams People Vote – Creating a mobile event and hub space

Date: 8th Nov 2024 Author: Max Dench

Voting is now open for the 2024 Horsham District Council People’s Budget!

West Sussex Scouts are looking to create a mobile operations and events hub in Horsham that will be stored and used within the local community.

The event hub will allow us:

  • To have a safe and dry base of operations for larger scale Scout events
  • To bring a mobile scout hut to areas that may not have the facilities currently
  • Use at local events to showcase what Scouting can bring to the community and aid in our recruitment efforts for more adult volunteers across the Horsham area.
  • Encourage more young people to take on the various adventures that Scouting has to offer be that if they join as a Squirrel or as a Network member or any section in between.

The hub itself is designed to be as self sufficient as possible utilising solar panels for local power and provide storage and transportation of supplies needed to run an evening of scouting activities

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
