Activities have been offered for many years at Group, District and County Level. To find what is offerred within West sussex and the qualifications needed, assessment and advisors, Steve Poulter, Assistant County Commissioner (Activities) has put together the West Sussex Activities Guide 2010 as a resource for anyone wanting to take part in the many activities on offer.
Adventure and activities are at the heart of Scouting and you should be able to find something suitable for everyone within the guide. There are contact details for assessors and advisers for each activity who are passionate about their chosen field and are there to help you. so please contact them and try somethingthat you may have never done before.
The guide in pdf form is available here.

RISK ASSESSMENTS
What is a risk assessment?
It is not difficult. A risk assessment is simply a look at what could go wrong, both before and during the activity and then deciding on ways to prevent or minimise these potential problems. There are five easy steps to assessment all of which can be found along with example assessments on factsheet FS 120000
IN TOUCH
In Touch is replacing the old Home Contact system.
Whenever any activity or event is run within Scouting it is a requirement that an In Touch system is in place.
This is to ensure that everyone involved is aware of how communication will take place between Leaders, Participants and those not on the event, there are details of who is present should anything go wrong and there is a system in place in the event of an emergency.
An In Touch system needs to be in place for every event from a weekly Scout meeting to a camp abroad. Obviously there will be different formats for every type of event and these are explained in Factsheet FS120075.
