On Friday the 6th of January 2006 1st Forest Row and three Explorers from Griffyn ESU went to Gilwell winter camp. This was an enjoyable weekend as there were many different activities we could choose from and we could do what ever we wanted to do. |

The weather on the Friday as we arrived was cold but dry but on the Saturday morning when we woke up we had snow on and around the tents. The snow only stayed till lunchtime but then that is when all the fun began. The snow turned into slush and it got really muddy so instead of snowball fights we had mud fights.
|
There were many different activities to choose from including quad biking (which was very muddy) laser clay shooting, abseiling rock climbing, simulator, dodgems and lots, lots more.

Unfortunately the time came when we had to pack our bags to come home, the weather on the Sunday was the worst of the weekend as it was very wet and windy. By taking part in the Gilwell winter camp you get to meet new people, we met people from Wales, Coventry and Scotland but there are people from lots of other areas too |
We also got T-Shirts “ I survived winter camp at Gilwell” was printed on the back of them to prove that we were there so if you want to go next time you can get the information from www.scouts.org.uk
