West Sussex Scouts Water Activities Fun Paddle
Adur Canoe/Kayak Expedition 14th June 2008

This years Fun Paddle will take place on the River Adur starting from Small Dole and finishing at Shoreham Harbour (approx 9 miles)

The number that can take part will be limited by the number of qualified people with permits available on the water.

For those that think the distance is too far, or the difficulty too much, there will be places to disembark at Bramber Bridge, Cuckoo Corner (3rd/5th Lancing) and 3rd Shoreham HQ.

Bring your own food, Drink

The leader of the Paddle will have the right to stop any person taking part if they are unsuitably prepared, so take all necessary gear, protective clothes/hat and a dry change of cloths for end of trip.

Each Group/Unit will be responsible for their own logistics for dropping-off and picking-up their people.

Entries must be in by Monday 9th June with the names of participants, their BCU Qualifications and Scout Permits if they have them.

Shoreham Harbour – Soldiers Point TQ 231 048   (ETA approx 15:00 hrs)

It might be better for less experienced paddlers to start at Bramber bridge, as it will be more interesting for them to do the later stage, they will join the main group on the water when the main group arrives at Bramber Bridge, Logistically the best thing to do is drop off all persons and gear to start at Small Dole and then proceed to Bramber Bridge and prepare to join main group, (plenty of time to prepare) a short wait will be necessary.

If a Leader with a permit is available, those persons waiting at Bramber Bridge may go on the water, if there is no leader with a permit they will have to be supervised on the bank and wait for the main group, then and only then can they go on the water with the main group.

If you do not have Canoes/Kayaks or Buoyancy Aids of your own, if you let us know, we may be able to borrow some for you.
