Beaver Scouts

Beaver Scouts is the youngest section of Scouting for 6 - 8 yrs. The section is run by the Beaver Scout Leader Clare and Assistant Beaver Scout Leader Wendy.

Meetings

The Beavers meet every Monday during school term time from 5.30 pm till 6.30 pm at the Funtington & District Village Hall.

Membership

There are currently 18 Beavers in the Funtington and West Stoke Colony, and both boys and girls attend. There is a waiting list currently of 12. A subscription fee is paid at the start of each term which covers the cost of the Hall, annual census (Insurances) and equipment.

Activities

Beavers like to be busy! All the activities are based around scouting interests – exploring the wider world, scout crafts, helping others, friendship to name just a few, and like the older sections, Beavers can work towards badges. Though most of the meetings are based in the hall, several times each term the Beavers will meet in the local woods, go for walks or explore the sea shore. We also take part in District wide events two or three times a year.

With the young age of Beavers, we ask that parents assist at the meetings on a rota basis, usually 1 – 2 times a term. Not only does this mean that we can meet the Scout Organisation minimum requirement of 1 adult per 6 children, we can then offer a varied programme in a safe environment, and the parents can see how much fun the children have, and join in!
