Adventurous Activity Authorisations – The New Permit Scheme

You may be aware that, for a number of months, there has been consultation and discussion regarding the Scout Associations Authorisation Scheme for Adventurous Activities. This has centred around how the scheme can be made more enabling, to streamline processes but not forgetting that it must be a robust system.

HQ have now issued details on the new scheme. All Counties within the UK must be operating the New Permit Scheme by September 2007.

In order for you all to understand the Scheme in detail, a number of presentations are planned for the ensuing months.
All DCs, Directors, ACCs and Agent 2:007 will have had a session at the Gilwell weekend on 4/5th February.

All County Leaders and ADCs, it is hoped to provide a presentation at your Area meetings scheduled for w/c 20th February.

All Activity Assessors & Advisers, it is planned  to have a presentation plus social in March/April - time  & date to be confirmed

If you wish to preempt these presentations, then follow this link: http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/ps/activities/assessment/permit.htm

If DCs feel that a presentation to their GSLs would also prove advantageous, I will be more than happy to atttend any meetings as required.

Equally, if it is felt that training managers would benefit from a presentation, this can be also be arranged (Module 25 Assessing Learning (Adventurous Actvities) applies)
