Scouting offers challenge and adventure to 400,000 young people and 100,000 adults across the UK. We believe in helping our Members fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We give people of every background the chance to stretch themselves, learn new skills and make life long friends.
"I have no doubts that West Sussex Scouts will move from strength to strength in achieving its overall objectives and your project of 2012 is guaranteed." |

One of the comments from the recent County Conference.
February saw young people and adults join together at a County Conference in Eastbourne to map out the development of Scouting in West Sussex looking forward to 2012.
John Spickett, County Commissioner said : "We have a 4.7 % increase in numbers - fantastic. We are growing and there is a buzz around the County- you must all be congratulated."
Some of the comments from Eastbourne:
Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed the weekend I thought the whole event went brilliantly with the contribution from the younger element being particularly outstanding Didn't the Jamboree Scouts excel !!
Many thanks to you and all the organising team
Just a quick note to say thanks for a great weekend. I really learnt a lot and enjoyed meeting all the other young leaders and important people in Scouting.
First I would like to thank you for including me in the weekend - I was so proud to be part of such a dynamic enthusiastic group of people. West Sussex Scouts has got to be the best. The weekend program, syndicate subjects, trainers - 5star. The delegates, the output from the sessions, the enthusiasm- 5star.
Firstly. well done for an excellent job at the weekend!!! What a brilliant weekend!!
With such enthusiasm Scouting will go from strength to strength as we move toward 2012:

Network Relaunch |
|
National Scout Air Rifle Championships |
The Re-launch represents an opportunity for Networkers in the county to get together with key members of the county and district teams to discuss what we want W.S. Network to become and how to achieve it.
The day featured presentations from Ed Wilson from HQ and the county team, but most excitingly an opportunity for Network members to present their views and ideas on ways forward.
The key part of the day involved grouping members together by geographical location in the county and in their groups agree positive action points to progress Network in their local area.
We hope to update on their progress at a county Scout Network camp in the summer and perhaps a similar conference next year.

The 32nd National Scout Air Rifle Championships are to be held at Bisley Camp near Guildford Surrey on the 17th- 19th October 2008. This is a wonderful event where Scouts, Explorers Scouts, Scout Network and Adults undertake many different disciplines in 6yrd Rifle , Field Target, Reactive Knockout and Pistol Competitions.
Entries are limited so early entry is recommended. You don’t have to be a master shot and the experience is very worth while.
Improvements this year will include:
Pre-charged air rifles for all age groups in the 6-yard Air Rifle main event,
An "Olympic Final" for the "Own Pistol" Class
Separate "Sporter Class" for 10-metre air rifle.
We are also delighted to announce that our guest presenter this year will be England's most successful-ever Commonwealth Games athlete, pistol shooter Mick Gault OBE.

Conventions used on this site |
|
|
This site, in common with many other web sites regualrly gets hit by a number of automated 'robots' or 'bots' as they are commonly known. Some are good - e.g. search engines that establish a listing in Google or Yahoo, but many of them are bad for a variety of reasons. Steps have been taken to minimise the bad effects, including changing some email addresses to include the word 'at' instead of the symbol @ and similarly the word 'dot' instead of the fullstop (.) in web addresses. Guidelines issued by the Scout Association are used as guidelines for this website particularly in the area of 'Young People First'
